8 mountain huts not to be missed in Madonna di Campiglio

Saturday, 28 June 2025

All mountain lovers have the main goal of reaching the summit. But once you have taken your photos, observed the distant mountain ranges, and scanned your next destinations, what do you do? Simple! You restore body and spirit with a well-deserved mountain hut break!
Here we share our favorite refreshment points, both in summer and winter, which you will come across along the slopes and trails of Madonna di Campiglio.
For any specific information and to check the opening days of the huts, we advise you to check their respective websites.

Mountain huts in the Grostè Area

Rifugio Graffer
The mountain hut belongs to SAT and owes its name to a famous mountaineer and aviator. It was built around the 1940s as a landmark for tackling the Northern Brenta Dolomites and the Via delle Bocchette. Naturally, the presence of the ski lifts has turned it into a reference point not only for hikers in summer, but also for skiers in winter.
We highly recommend it for enjoying a vast panorama over the Brenta, Cevedale, or for taking in the beauty of the sunset over the peaks of Adamello-Presanella.

Jumper Apres Ski
We are at Passo Campo Carlo Magno, in one of the liveliest après-ski venues: the Jumper, Food Fun & Ski bar. It is located near the Grostè cable car and offers pizzeria service, sandwiches, and a restaurant with simple or more refined options, such as baguettes made with Slow Food products from Trentino. For young people, it is the regular meeting place after a day on the slopes of Madonna di Campiglio.
Mountain huts in the 5 Laghi Area:

Rifugio 5 Laghi
Rifugio 5 Laghi is located at the arrival of the 5Laghi cable car, near Lake Ritorto, an unmissable stop for summer trekking in the Brenta Dolomites. Its dining room enjoys an excellent view of the mountains, where you can catch your breath and enjoy one of the delicious mountain menus based on polenta, grilled cheese, or game. In winter, it is a great idea to stop here for lunch on the slopes or for a snack… the desserts are amazing!

Rifugio Patascoss
Located at the start of the legendary “3Tre” slope, Rifugio Patascoss is a reference point for regulars in Madonna di Campiglio. Very convenient to reach by car, yet at the same time right on the slopes, it offers a beautiful view as well as cuisine in line with the Trentino tradition, both for lunch and dinner. In summer, it is strategic for excursions on the Five Lakes Tour or for reaching Lake Ritorto or Lake Nambino.
Mountain huts in the Pradalago Area:

Rifugio Pradalago 2000
Rifugio Pradalago 2000 is a rather recent building. It is located inside the arrival station of the Pradalago cable car, designed with modern architecture. It enjoys a splendid view of the Brenta Dolomites, which is why we love to take a seat on the large terrace and have lunch in the spring sunshine.
After carving down the Amazzonia slope, one of the most famous black runs in Madonna di Campiglio, stopping here to savor the traditional dishes of Trentino gastronomy is a must.

Rifugio Viviani
Ideal for admiring the Brenta Group, Rifugio Viviani is open in both summer and winter, as it is located near the ski lifts of the Pradalago area. If you want to reach it on foot from Madonna di Campiglio, you will need good fitness and a three-hour walk. During the summer, it serves as a crossing point towards Cima Zeledria, Tre Laghi, Lago Scuro, and the Five Lakes.
Mountain huts in the Spinale Area:

Chalet Fiat
The new Chalet Fiat has just reopened its doors, completely modernized with large windows, dolomite stone, and wood. A historic refuge that was born at the end of the 1960s, today it serves as a meeting place for skiers and hikers, a venue for organizing events and corporate meetings, as well as pleasant evenings in the mountains.
It remains a chic place to stop for lunch or an aperitif, while admiring the breathtaking panorama.

Rifugio Montagnoli
To experience the classic mountain hut atmosphere, make a stop at Rifugio Montagnoli. The wood-burning fireplace at the entrance, the rich menu, and the attached dairy make it a place with a “typical Trentino” feel.
It is easily accessible by car, on foot, or on skis, open in both summer and winter. During the day, you can have lunch at the self-service restaurant to get right back on the slopes, or in the evening treat yourself to an excursion with the snowcat for a romantic dinner or one spent in the company of friends.
