Nature, sport, fun: Trentino is a land full of beauty and waiting to be explored. Madonna di Campiglio and Val Rendena are the perfect starting point for a weekend because they are well connected both with the main towns and with the thousand attractions that make this territory unique. Here, we want to give you some ideas for the days you choose to spend with us.

The mountains: Dolomiti di Brenta, Adamello, and Presanella

Madonna di Campiglio rests in the embrace of some of the most beautiful peaks in the entire Alpine arc. First of all, the Dolomiti di Brenta, proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. A destination for mountaineers and hikers from all over the world for more than a century, the Dolomiti di Brenta offer an extraordinary variety of climbs, equipped routes, and trails, as well as dozens of mountain huts and bivouacs at high altitude. On the other side, the Adamello-Presanella group is the realm of ice and water, a paradise of biodiversity with hundreds of examples of wild fauna and flora.

Lakes of Campiglio, Tovel, Molveno, and Garda

Val Rendena is rich in crystal-clear streams and stretches of water, the ideal place to walk in spring or cool off during the hot season. Here, we want to mention three small lakes that can be easily reached on foot starting from Madonna di Campiglio: lago delle Malghette, lago Nambino, and lago Ritorto. They are all located between 1,700 and 2,000 meters above sea level and offer breathtaking views in an unspoiled context.
In the nearby Val di Sole, you can find Lago dei Caprioli, a lovely stretch of water immersed in a fascinating fir wood, easily accessible from Madonna di Campiglio and a destination for easy walking day trips.
Not to be forgotten, near Cles in Val di Non, is the wonderful Lago di Tovel (whose waters turned a splendid red until the 1960s). A pearl set in the frame of the Dolomiti di Brenta.
If, on the other hand, you prefer larger bodies of water, in about an hour by car you can reach lago di Molveno or lago di Garda, both equipped with facilities for sport and entertainment.

Waterfalls of Nardis, Lares, and Vallesinella

The waterways that dot western Trentino often give life to roaring waterfalls that fill the lush side valleys of Val Rendena with their thunder. The most famous are located in Val Genova and are the Nardis waterfalls, the Lares waterfalls, and the Matarot waterfalls. But there are also the Mezzo and Alte waterfalls in Vallesinella and the cascata d’Amola in Val Nambrone.

Natural parks: Adamello Brenta, Stelvio, and Paneveggio

Madonna di Campiglio and Val Rendena are completely surrounded by the Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta: 620 square kilometers of biodiversity that make it the largest protected area in Trentino.
A few kilometers from here, on the border with the provinces of Sondrio and Bolzano, lies instead the Stelvio National Park with the Ortles-Cevedale group. With its 130,700 hectares, in the heart of the Central Alps, Stelvio is a typical high-altitude mountain park, mostly above 2,000 meters. You need to move to the other side of Trentino, on the border with the province of Belluno, to reach the Parco Naturale Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino, the realm of the deer. The most famous violins and soundboards in the world are made from the fir trees that grow here.

Villages and cities

Not only natural beauties: Val Rendena and Trentino are territories rich in splendid villages and cities. Rango in Bleggio and San Lorenzo in Banale, a short distance from where we are located, are counted among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, a destination every year for tens of thousands of visitors. But there are also Spiazzo, Strembo, Bocenago and Caderzone, Giustino, Pinzolo, Carisolo, all immersed in lush nature. For those who love urban contexts, a visit to Trento and Rovereto is a must, cities rich in history, art, and museums.
If you want to spend a truly special day, consider the possibility of combining some of these routes. You could, for example, visit the Parco Naturale Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino during the day, then stop in Trento for dinner: lose yourself in the alleys of the center and choose from the many restaurants offering typical cuisine.
Don't want to go too far from Madonna di Campiglio? In the Adamello – Brenta park there is everything you need: walks, small lakes, and waterfalls. Want to combine lake and city? Then we recommend a morning in Rovereto, afternoon in Riva del Garda with a return in the evening to Val Rendena.
