Madonna di Campiglio, 3 ideas for non-skiers
What to do in Madonna di Campiglio if you don't ski? If downhill skiing isn't for you, don't worry. You have the whole mountain world to explore! In this post, we suggest three activities not to be missed at the Queen of Snow: a snowshoe hike, a ride on a sleddog, and a few sledding runs on the brand new track inaugurated just this year. Just three of the numerous experiences for winter on the snow.
Children will go crazy for them... but you adults will too. Don't you think? Let's start with the classic alternative to alpine skiing, snowshoes.
Snowshoe trips in Madonna di Campiglio
The snowshoes – or racchette da neve – will allow you to get in touch with the whitewashed nature. Strolling on the snow-covered mantle means appreciating the silence, listening to the slow rhythm of steps in the snow, letting yourself be carried away into the quiet of the woods. In the surroundings of Madonna di Campiglio, there are many snowshoe trails of all lengths, elevation gains, and difficulties: ranging from the simplest “Senter dei Siori” to the more demanding “Terrazza sul Brenta” itinerary. See all the routes here. At Hotel Alpina, we have an agreement with the Mountain Guides that allows you to participate for free in the snowshoe trips organized on Tuesdays and Fridays. Ask for information at the reception.
Sleddog school with Athabaska
The beautiful Piana di Nambino awaits adults and children with the Athabaska sleddog school. A great group of husky dogs will accompany you on an exciting sled ride around Madonna di Campiglio. And anyone who wants to learn how to drive a sleddog will have expert guides available to take a first excursion – alone or with family – driving the dogs through the woods of the Dolomites. Authentic emotions!
Track! Sledding down from Monte Spinale
The 2017 novelty, completely dedicated to children, will cross the meadows of malga Fevri up to the departure of the Spinale 2 chairlift. The brand new sledding track of Madonna di Campiglio, 3 kilometers long, promises to conquer not only the little ones but also adults looking for fun. In fact, the numbers are anything but beginner-level: it starts at 2,070, with an elevation loss of 340 and a maximum slope of 18%. In short, pure adrenaline! Sleds and helmets can be rented on site. Attention, the use of plastic bobs is not allowed, so leave it at home.
